DIG,CR conducted a review meeting with senior police officers of Puri district on police arrangements for the safe and orderly observance of New Year 2026.
The meeting reviewed comprehensive security, traffic, crowd management and emergency preparedness measures for 31st December 2025 and 1st January 2026, with special focus on Puri town, Shree Jagannath Temple and the sea beach areas.
With over 3.5-4 lakh devotees expected to visit Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri, comprehensive security, traffic, crowd management, and emergency preparedness measures are in place.
Key Arrangements:
- 60 platoons of police personnel, 10 additional SPs, 33 DSPs, 62 inspectors, and 245 sub-inspectors deployed for crowd control
- Robust deployment plan, including lifeguards, ODRAF, and STF units
- CCTV surveillance and control rooms operational from Dec 29, 2025, to Jan 1, 2026
- Traffic and parking plans, with multiple parking locations and contingency arrangements
- Barricades and public address systems in place for organized temple entry and crowd regulation
- Preventive measures, including NSA action against antisocial elements and seizure of contraband
